As a key component of turnouts, tongue rails can become easily worn down and require frequent replacement.
We have developed an anti-friction tongue rail with improved abrasion resistance, which can help reduce maintenance costs.
The anti-friction tongue rail uses heat-treatable HH340 materials for the rails. The tips have been shaped to control the initial flaw and abrasion.
These features provide improved abrasion resistance compared to existing slack-quench (SQ) heat-treated tongue rails. This extends the tongue rails’ usable life, and can help to reduce track maintenance costs.
Switching the materials from HC to HH340 has made the rail surface hard while keeping the inside tough.
The anti-friction tongue rail technology has been developed by the Railway Technical Research Institute. Kanto Bunkiki is manufacturing and selling this anti-friction tongue rail under the technical guidance of the Railway Technical Research Institute.
The tongue rail tip cross-sectional shape has been shaved and corrected in alignment with the angles of the train wheels as they run along the track.
Some of the angles are 65° and 70°.
The anti-friction tongue rail meets all the standard values and performance requirements of the JIS E1101 materials tests.
